TUNESday

"I never knew a so-, so-ng, a song like this". This is an oldie but goodie for all who love LOVE. Common is a poet, lyricist, rapper, and so much more. Common paints a picture of his idea of a relationship and how couples need to see "THE LIGHT". Enjoy, feel free to comment.

Beyonce vs. Ciara

I've been meaning to write a post about Ciara's "Ride" video being banned from B.E.T, but never got a chance to. Personally, I like the video, it kind of reminds me of Beyonce's video "Crazy In Love".

My first reaction to her video was somewhat bias, simply because I have younger sisters and I know they watch T.V., especially B.E.T., and I definitely had the image of my 13 year old sister singing, "They love the way I ride it". Then as a young adult, I thought, this song is not so bad, for me!

I do think B.E.T went a little too far by banning the video. There's a lot more inappropriate videos on 106 & Park way worse than Ciara's video. I decided to compare Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" video with Ciara's video "Ride".

They have similar outfits and at the end of each video, they both appear to be drenched in water, LOL. I'm not sure what kind of message that is, but I guess Beyonce is classier than Ciara, LOL.

Movies of the Month

I know I have been slipping with the posts, but have no fear the the movies of the month for June are here!

1.) Dead Presidents
2.) Set It Off
3.) The Usual Suspects

I picked these three movies, because it's just about summer time and this is the season for thieving. So enjoy, feel free to leave a comment.

Drake vs Mary J. Blige

You know that song on Drake's album where T.I. just blows Drake's verse out the water, LOL? "Oh you Fancy huh?, oh you Fancy huh?" Well here is the original version of "Fancy" with just Mary J. Blige and Swizz Beats. I guess when your the queen you can throw away songs to the "help", LOL. Personally, I think this song is better, what ya'll think?

TUNESday

Today's song of the week is "People Make The World Go Round" by The Stylistics. I chose to pick this song because its a classic and last night I went to the Apollo for a tribute to Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson and this song was the first song playing before the actual event started. Plus its the opening song in Spike Lee's movie, Crooklyn and I just love it. ENJOY!!

Drake: Thank Me NEVER

Just a year ago we were all listening to Drake's mixtape "So Far Gone", since that had so much unexpected success, Drake has been working on his new album ever since. I just want to start off by saying DRAKE IS NOT A RAPPER!!!! Now that I have finally got that off my chest, I will say Drake's album is nice, LOL. Every beat on his album is HARD.

In my opinion this is more so an R&B album rather than a Rap album, like everyone is saying. Some of his best R&B songs on the album were ruined once his decided to start rapping. For example, "Shut It Down" ft The Dream, would have been PERFECT if he didn't add that weak 16 at the end of the song, along with "Karaoke".

For his very first album, he should have not included so many features. His features include, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Swizz Beats, T.I., The Dream, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Young Jeezy. EVERY artist on his album had a better verse than him.

I just hope people don't over do it and make it seem like this album is a classic. It's nice, but its nothing like Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, or Ready to Die, but I guess that's what makes Drake- Drake. Its a different sound, somewhat similar to Lauryn Hill's album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Some songs sounds as if he looked up every pick up line used on a girl and created a song using every line, LOL. I understand why people like Drake though, he's a geek, and Geeks have never been acknowledge before so I guess Drake is opening the doors for Geeks all over. Like Styles P said, "WIth a little bit of fame/ you can change the game/ but it's a shame/ they done opened up a lane for LAMES".

I like it for the most part, what ya'll think?

Jay-Z is a Rolling Stone!

Jay-Z has been featured on the June/July issue of Rolling Stones. The article on Jay-Z is entitled, How Jay-Z Became King: Inside the New Issue. This has to be one of my least favorite articles featuring Jay-Z, not because of Jay, but because of the corny journalist who wrote this nonsense.

First I want to mention that I love the 2nd cover of the issue. The first cover shows Jay looking HARD in all black everything. The 2nd cover looks like who Jay has evolved into, like his mature look, LOL.

If I had the opportunity to interview Jay, first we would not be just stay in his office, that's corny, especially when you are located in NY. I would probably have invited Jay to a Yankee game, my treat, but we won't be sitting in the good seats. We are going to be with the true Yankee fans in the bleachers. Or I would have asked him to come with me to Brooklyn Bridge park or Williamsburg Bridge park and have a nice conversation. Keep it real.

In the Rolling Stone article, whoever wrote the article only focused on irrelevant stuff. The author wrote about how Jay got undressed in front of him, to get ready for an event he was attending later taht evening. The author also wrote about how at the event Jay mispronounced Kelsey Grammer's name and instead said "Chelsea Grammer". I don't know, WEIRD! LOL
